Alanna DeVane Slightom

WALKERTOWN, NC - Alanna DeVane Slightom, 69, of Walkertown, NC, and formerly of Moultrie, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at her home. 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 15, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Voyles and Reverend Julian Griner officiating.    Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Friends may also visit the family at the residence of Jo Ann and Roger Lindsay to express condolences.

Casketbearers will be Andrew Slightom, David Forrester, Daniel Lindsay, Justin Lindsay, Kyle Duke, and Chris Barry.

Honorary casketbearers will be Roger Lindsay and Benjamin Forrester. 

Born December 4, 1954, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Joe Toby DeVane and Ann Hill DeVane.  Mrs. Slightom was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her grandchildren.  She was known as “Ladybug” to many people and had a heart for others.  Mrs. Slightom was a teacher at Odom School who poured her all into the lives of her students.  She helped mold the minds and hearts of countless children from the same classroom for over 20 years.  After retiring, Mrs. Slightom enjoyed traveling and expressing her artistic talents through painting.  She continued to live and explore through the experiences shared with her by her children and family.  Mrs. Slightom was a faithful member of the Baptist faith who left a positive mark on the lives of all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.   

Survivors include her beloved husband of almost 43 years, Larry Slightom; daughter, Giniann Slightom Forrester and husband David; son, Andrew Slightom; grandchildren, Annalee and Benjamin; sister, Jo Ann Lindsay and husband Roger; nephews, Justin Lindsay and family, Daniel Lindsay and family; her “Odom Girls” who she considered to be family; along with a number of extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Ashton Lindsay.
