Arnold Turner Thomas

Arnold Turner Thomas, 91, of Moultrie, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, October 4, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Mike Arnold officiating.  Interment will be in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born November 20, 1929, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Ross Thomas, Sr. and Cora Bell Castleberry Thomas.  Mr. Thomas was a retired owner/operator of Thomas Alternator Service.  Serving in many positions he was an active and dedicated member of Memorial Baptist Church.  A man of strong Christian faith and principles, he was quiet, thoughtful, and humble.  Possessing a sense of humor, he enjoyed hearing and telling stories of his and others’ life experiences.  A devoted husband and father, he cherished his time fellowshipping with family, friends, and extended family.  He enjoyed listening to and singing hymns and gospel music.

Many of Mr. Thomas’s business customers can relate stories of his generosity and kindness. 

For many years one would find him on Friday nights watching and listening to Colquitt County Packers football; on Saturdays UGA, Florida Gators, and Auburn college football; or Atlanta Braves baseball any day/night they were playing. 

Mr. Thomas was well liked in the community and will be truly missed by many. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Parks Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Sally Parks Thomas of Moultrie; children, Keith Thomas and wife Teresa of Warner Robins, Cheryl Thomas Willis, Mark Thomas and wife Kelli, all of Moultrie; twelve grandchildren, Tasha and Joe Rodgers, Gary Yates, Ross Thomas and Amber, Rhett and Brook Thomas, Jaime Whitten, Rebekah and Carl Caviness, Jeremy Thomas, Holly Thomas, Richard and Nicole Willis, Amanda and Tommy Edmonds, Jerilyn and Adam Childers, and Marlie Thomas; fourteen great-grandchildren, Mia Rodgers, Evelyn Thomas, Angel Thomas, Chandler Thomas, Skylar Thomas, Daxton Whitten, Matthew Whitten, Quentin Caviness, Ezra Caviness, Kylee Willis, Jack Willis, Dawson Willis, Livi Kell Childers, soon to arrive Larsyn Childers; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; brothers, W. Ross Thomas, Jr. and wife Vivian of Roswell, Owen Thomas of Moultrie.

The family will be gathering at home of Mrs. Arnold Thomas.
