Aulton B. Akridge, Jr.

Aulton B. Akridge, Jr., 85, of Hartsfield, GA passed away February 18, 2022, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.  

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Pastor Trey Jackson will officiate. 

Born February 3, 1937, in Colquitt County, GA, he was the son of the late Aulton B. Akridge, Sr. and Elsie Majors Akridge of Hartsfield, GA.  After graduation from Moultrie High School in 1955, he became an aircraft mechanic at Spencefield Air Base. Shortly afterward, he met the love of his life, Montine Palmer Akridge, and they married on June 26, 1959.  After the closure of Spencefield Air Base, he began a 50-year career as a certified automotive technician working at Albany Lincoln Mercury. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, traveling to many parts of the US.  After retirement, he enjoyed participating in the lives of his two granddaughters.  He loved his family and instilled meaningful values in each one of their lives.  He and his wife are members of Hartsfield Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his son, Aulton B. Akridge, III (Sherry) of Warner Robins, GA; his daughter, Karen Akridge Poole (Jeremy) of Cairo, GA; his grandchildren, Rachel McBride, Anna McBride, and Alexander Akridge.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Montine, his sister, Seena A. Holland, and his baby brother, Buddy.
