MOULTRIE, GA – Ausley Strickland Gissendanner, 94, of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after the funeral service in Oak Grove Baptist Church Social Hall.

Casketbearers will be Kirby Clark, Rob Clyatt, Chad Hensley, Jonathan Hensley, Will Besson, and John Besson.

Born August 7, 1930, in TyTy, Georgia, he was the son of the late Elton Jake Gissendanner and Emma Lou Carter Gissendanner. Mr. Ausley retired as a pharmacist with over 40 years of service, which includes Southwestern State Hospital, Archbold and other retail pharmacies. Mr. Ausley was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He was a kind-hearted, humble husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family dearly. Mr. Ausley enjoyed fishing and camping and was the biggest Georgia Bulldog fan. He had an unbelievably green thumb and was able to grow anything.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Viola Jean Barlow Gissendanner; children, Donna Jean Gissendanner Sallee and husband Larry, Rhonda Jan Gissendanner Colvin and husband John, Cindy Joy Gissendanner Besson and husband Bill, Kay Lisa Gissendanner Bozeman and husband Tim; grandchildren, Leslie Kelley and husband D.J., Jean Potter and husband Eric, Chad Hensley, Jonathan Hensley, Will Besson, John Besson, Rebecca Smith, Nicole Lee and husband Austin, Kaleb Broome and wife Julie; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Gissendanner and wife Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.  The family wishes to give a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who have become extended family members, Janice and Terry Baldree, Ella Dickinson, Amber Colvin and Gwen Mack. 

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
