MOULTRIE, GA.- Avis Mae Austin Bridges, 95, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2023, at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Saunders Pinckard officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service in Hopewell Cemetery.
Born December 29, 1927, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lemuel Austin and Effie Mae Crowell Austin. Mrs. Avis was a homemaker, a good and faithful servant of the Lord and a member of Evelyn Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. Mrs. Avis enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, cooking, quilting, knitting, and writing short stories and poems. She was a beautiful, humble woman who will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Olin Bridges; son, Jerry Olin Bridges; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Peggy Rowley and husband John, Glenda Allegood and husband Jimmy all of Moultrie, GA, Dale Bridges Metcalfe and Curt of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Mandy Galphin and Mark, John Bradley Rowley and Carrie, Will Rowley and Sarah, JoBeth Rowley Estes and husband Jack; great-grandchildren, Abbie Galphin, Katie Galphin, Anna Brooke Rowley, Allie Grace Rowley, Ella Rowley and Owen Rowley.
