MOULTRIE- Barbara Hamilton Saturday Johnston, 76, of Moultrie, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Randall Kennedy and Reverend Trey Eakins officiating. Born July 17, 1946, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Marcus “Shorty” Hamilton and Beatrice Kilgore Hamilton. Mrs. Johnston was a graduate of Thomas University and also attended Valdosta State University. She had a successful career as a Salesperson for General Telephone Company before retiring after 22 years of service. Mrs. Johnston rejoined the workforce and made a second career of service with the State of Georgia DFCS office for 11 years. She was a faithful member of Kingwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Johnston was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her greatest wish was for all people to accept His Saving Grace. She was also known by many as the wife of Coach Roy Saturday who preceded her in death on May 2, 2012. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Wellborn. Survivors include her loving husband, Bill Johnston of Moultrie; niece, Lisa Hafley and husband Chuck; great niece, Valarie Hafley; great nephew, Marcus Cole Lynn; three bonus daughters, Selena Norman and husband David, Sandy Fitzgerald and husband Chad and Stacey Gay and husband Carlton; bonus grandchildren, Seth Norman, Erin Pitts and husband Weyman, Layne Norman, Josie Brightwell, Jacob Brightwell, Madison Gay, Rance Gay, Ryan Fitzgerald and Brett Fitzgerald; brother-in-law, Andy Wellborn; and many extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The Georgia Sheriff’s Boys Ranch or the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.
