Bro. Billy Joe “Bill” Watson, age 85, of Hodgenville, formerly of Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at Hodgenville Pentecostal Church with Bro. David Webb and Bro. Don Woollett officiating. Visitation will be held 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church.
A funeral service will also be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Georgia with the Reverend Chuck Akers, Reverend David Webb, and the Reverend Mark Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend David Howell officiating.
Casketbearers will be Brandon Watson, Brandon Jordan, Tommy Shrouder, Jamie Hunter, Greg Thompson, and Tony Arnold.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Brother Bill was a pastor, evangelist, and missionary for over 60 years. He was an Army Veteran, a lover of good books, and pocket-knives, but most importantly a man of prayer and the Bible.
Brother Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrna Chapin Watson; six sisters, Frances Watson Murphy, Etta Mae Watson Taylor, Minnie Hazel Watson, Zollie James Watson, Betty Jean Watson Cason and Molly Fay Watson Arndt Beyer; a stepdaughter, Melva Deanne Walls and a step-great-granddaughter, Ella Deanne Dalton.
He is survived by his wife, Melva Clemons Watson of Hodgenville; two sons, Barry (Alesia) Watson of Georgia and David (Diana) Watson of Alabama; a granddaughter, Kristen (Jeremy) Jenkins; two grandsons, Brandon and Landon Watson; a great-granddaughter, Eden Sharee Jenkins; a sister Elaine Watson Taylor of Georgia; a brother, James David Watson of Georgia; a step-daughter, Gail (Doug) Webb; a step-son, Dale (Connie) Taylor both of Kentucky;12 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.
