Bobbie Sloan Carter

Bobbie Sloan Carter, 82, of Moultrie passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 27, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Randy Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow in Murphy Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Born June 29, 1939, in Colquitt County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late David Wright Sloan and Emma Ruth Lewis Sloan.  Mrs. Carter retired with 37 ½ years of service in the Colquitt County Tax Commissioner’s Office and part of that time she severed as the Tax Commissioner.  She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church.  Mrs. Bobbie was known as a true southern lady.  She was a passionately responsible leader and servant to the residents of Colquitt County.  Every task she encountered was met with great pride, charm, and devotion.  Her spirit was vivacious, as she enjoyed being with people and loved in a big way.  Her family was her world! Heaven’s gain is Colquitt County’s loss.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wallace Carter; sister, Gwen Day; brother, Grady Sloan; sisters-in-law, Gail Sloan, Margaret Carter; brothers-in-law, Ray Carter, Ray Luke, Pete Hunter, Jimmy Wyatt; great-nephew, Devyn Newberry.  

Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy Hunter of Pavo, Jeannette Luke of Ochlocknee, Patricia Wyatt of Moultrie; nieces and nephews, Keith Carter, Bryan Carter, Melisa Yeend, Stephanie Wood, Cindy Harvin, Ranee Sloan Bostick, Sonja Benton, Burnie Sloan, Diane Green, Gary Hunter, Ricky Luke, Kim Luke, Donna Newberry, Belinda Watkins and Rhonda Johnson; brother-in-law, Selby Day of Lawrenceville several very special great-nieces and great-nephews.
