"Butch" Alton James Parrish

MOULTRIE, GA – Alton James “Butch” Parrish, 79, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2022, at Westview Cemetery with Bishop Elton King and Craig Wysong officiating.   The family will greet friends after the service at Westview Cemetery. 

Born January 4, 1943, in Kissimmee, Florida, he was the son of the late Albert Jackson Parrish and Evelyn Yates Parrish.   Mr. Butch was a very respected and community-oriented man who served in a lot of organizations in Moultrie.   He was the proud owner of The Colquitt Shopper from 1972-2011 (39 years).  Some of his other services to the community included Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority for 5 years, Vice Chairman of the Colquitt County Authority for 20 years, City Councilman for 20 years, President and member of the Kiwanis Club, and he served on other committees for the City of Moultrie and Colquitt County.   Mr. Butch’s contributions to the citizens of Colquitt County will always be remembered.   He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Raymond Parrish.

Survivors include his wife, Edris Barlow Parrish of Moultrie; children, Alton James “Jay” Parrish, II and wife Carolyn of Moultrie, Holly Parrish Wysong and husband Craig of Bonaire, Natasha Parrish Dauphin and husband Duane of Winder; grandchildren, Ashlee Renee Parrish, Kaylee Rebecca Wysong, Jackson Alan Wysong, David Barlow Dauphin, Daniel James Dauphin and Landon James Wysong.
