MEIGS, GA – Carroll Elmo Wilkes, 85, of Meigs, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Stanley Norman officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:15 PM on Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church. 

Casketbearers will be Wayne Chapman, Dusty Roberts, Cody Roberts, and Mike Fields.

Born September 7, 1939, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Leon Elmo Wilkes and Bertie Lee Reagan Wilkes. Mr. Carroll was a Retired United States Navy Veteran serving 20 years for his country and continued working at the Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany. He was a god-fearing man, who loved the Lord, his family, and his church family. Carroll was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he served the Lord, as a deacon, sound room technician, and on the building and maintenance committee. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In his younger years, he enjoyed being on his ham radio and remained throughout his entire life a master woodworker. Carroll will forever be in our hearts. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Fannie Sue Wilkes, Willa Dean Chapman, Sandra Lee Streb. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Marcia Eloise Roberts Wilkes; children, Lisa Chamberland and Bob, Angela “Angie” Fields and Mike; grandchildren, Taylor Wagner and Brian, Mackenzie Jones and Michael, Haley Fields; great-grandchild, Leilah Jones; brother, Donnie Wilkes; nieces and nephews, Charlene McKernan and family, Wayne Chapman and family, Dennis Chapman and family, Toni Chapman and family, Michelle Warren and family, Kim Mims Kimble and family; several other extended family members and close friends.
