Chris Wainwright

NORMAN PARK, GA – Chris Wainwright, 64, of Norman Park, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2023, at Omega Cemetery in Baxley Georgia with the Reverend Murray Barfield officiating.    

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  

The Public Safety members will serve as casketbearers.

Born April 22, 1958, in Waycross, Georgia, he was the son of Jurell Waters Wainwright of Baxley, Georgia and the late Bernard Hilton Wainwright.   Mr. Chris was the State of Georgia Fire Marshall and was a vital part of the public safety community since 1990.   He was a very humble, compassionate, caring man, who loved his family dearly and was always willing to help others.   Mr. Chris will always be remembered as a great man who had a funny sense of humor and was a friend to all.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Vickie Driver Wainwright of Norman Park; children, Sean Foster Wainwright and wife Hannah, Abbie Whitney Tucker and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Christopher Mark Tucker, Wyatt Michael Wainwright, Ruby Virginia Wainwright, Kaleb Tucker, Cameron Tucker, Carter Tucker, and Kyle Tucker; siblings, Brian Kip Wainwright and wife Tami, Charles Gregory Wainwright and wife Robin; several extended family members and friends.
