Curtis Newton Leatherwood

MOULTRIE - Curtis Newton Leatherwood, 82, of Moultrie, passed away on December 4, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his beloved family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Moultrie with Reverend Matt Peak officiating. 

A luncheon for family and friends will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM at First Baptist Church Moultrie and the family will receive friends afterwards in the Chapel from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Born June 1, 1942, in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Curtis N. Leatherwood and Margie McKnight Leatherwood. Mr. Leatherwood grew up in East Point, GA and graduated from Headland High School in 1960. He went on to attend the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. Mr. Leatherwood loved his family and church very much. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, golfing, watching baseball and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Leatherwood enjoyed a successful career in the banking industry. His infectious laugh will be missed by his family and friends. He loved his dogs, Scooter and Casper like family. Mr. Leatherwood was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Moultrie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianne Leatherwood; his son, Patrick Leatherwood; and his sister, Kay Williams.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Jo Ann Clayton Leatherwood; daughters, Jennifer Leatherwood and Allison Leatherwood; grandchildren, Caelyn Leatherwood, Cole Leatherwood, Will Leatherwood, Marie Sherwin and Jennings Leatherwood; along with other extended family members and friends.
