Dan Gay

Dan Gay, 81, of Moultrie, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 3, 2021, while surrounded by his family.

A private family service will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. 

Casketbearers will include Kasey Key, Brandon Gay, Blake Gay, Justin Gay, Beau Gay, Jacob Brinson, Tim DeMott, Jason Jacobs, Brad Griffin, and Adan Zongua.  Honorary Casketbearers will include Jessi Ray, Loryn Lewis, Cheyenne Johnson, Kirsten Price, Karalee Holton, and Abby Taylor.

Born August 6, 1940, in Sigsbee, GA, he was the son of the late Charlie Butler Gay and Clydie Cannon Gay.  Mr. Gay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lovingly supported and cared for his family, taking pride in each of their accomplishments.  He was the founder, owner, and operator of Gay’s Tire Service which was opened in 1978.  He was well respected in the community and always gave credit to others instead of focusing attention on himself.  He considered his customers as his own family.  He was known as a hardworking, loyal southern gentleman and will be missed greatly in the community.  He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed assisting pastors through the years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gay was preceded in death by five siblings. 

Survivors include his devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jacobs Gay; children, Danny Ray “Fred” Gay and wife Janet of Moultrie, Brenda Gay Key and husband Tommy of Norman Park, Mike Gay and wife LeAndra of Moultrie, Dana Gay Brinson and husband Philip of Moultrie, Shana Gay Taylor and husband Lynn of Bay; grandchildren, Kasey Key and wife Kancey, Justin Gay, Blake Gay and wife Katie, Brandon Gay, Jessi Ray and husband Chett, Loryn Lewis and husband Matt, Jacob Brinson, Beau Gay, Cheyenne Johnson and husband Colby, Kirsten H. and Danielle Price, Karalee Holton, and Abby Taylor;  great-grandchildren, Fallin Key, Iella Key, Jerry Key, Nora Ray, Kanon Pearl Ray, Eli Gay, Kam Gay, Emy Gay, Caroline Eidson, Cooper Lewis, Harper Gay; a number of special nieces and nephews; special family friends, Leah Sloan, Javan Morgan, Glenda Yates, Ann Spradley, Cathy Maxwell, James Beasley, Kendra Sloan, Stephanie DeLong, and Cindy Newsome.

The family will be gathering at the home of Dorothy and Dan Gay.
