Danny Hancock Wingate, 82, of Doerun, GA passed away Tuesday September 14, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 17, 2021, at Cool Springs Baptist Church, Sale City, GA with the Reverend Wayne Smith, Reverend Tim Bozeman and Dr. Clay Hartley officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Jay Wingate, Dr. Clay Hartley, Gage Emory, Richard Beasley, Robert Grantham and Andy Parker. The members of Doerun High School Class of 1956 will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Born October 17, 1938, in Albany, Ga. She was the daughter of the late W.T. Hancock and Mattie Bateman Hancock. Lifelong resident of Poplar Arbor Community, she enjoyed cooking especially chocolate and strawberry cakes. She was a life-time member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Theron Hancock, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Noah Truitt Wingate; daughter Sheila Wingate Hartley and husband Ricky of Moultrie, GA; sons Jeffery Tony Wingate Sr. and wife Celena of Hartsfield, GA and Edwin Brent Wingate of Doerun, GA; grandchildren Dr. William Clayton Hartley of Valdosta, GA, Anna Elizabeth Hartley of Moultrie, GA, Jeffery Tony Wingate Jr. and wife Summer of Moultrie, GA and Bridget Morey of Doerun, GA; great-grandchildren, Gage Emory of Hartsfield, GA and Addison Odum of Moultrie, GA.
