David Rowland Spangler, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather,, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6 2024, in Thomasville, Georgia. Born on March 2, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, David lived a life dedicated to his work, faith, and family.
David was a hardworking truck driver for Trinity Industries out of Dallas, Texas, a role that afforded him the opportunity to travel and meet people from all walks of life. His tenure in the trucking industry was marked by his dedication and strong work ethic, traits that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.
A man of considerable faith, David loved God and was deeply devoted to his church. His spirituality was a cornerstone of his life, providing a source of strength and community. He was known for his carefree spirit and vibrant personality, which resonated with everyone he encountered. David was a true people person, always ready with a smile and a story to share, making lasting connections throughout his life.
David had a variety of interests that brought him joy; he relished in traveling—often exploring new places and meeting new people. His passion for western television shows and admiration for John Deere tractors reflected his appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
He is survived by his children, Jewell Lydick and husband Rick, and Stephen Spangler and wife Kami. David leaves behind a loving legacy of six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom adored him. His sister, Marilyn Spangler, also mourns the loss of her dear brother.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vickie Spangler, as well as his father, Marion Spangler, mother, Susie Lulena (Oxley) Spangler, and daughter, Christine Doe. Their memories will forever be cherished alongside his vibrant spirit.
A visitation service will be held on October 11, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel located at 2441 Camilla Hwy, Moultrie, GA 31768. David's memory will be celebrated by all whose lives he touched, as those who knew him will remember his kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of many.
