Dorothy Johnson Morgan

Mrs. Dorothy Johnson Morgan, age 91, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at a local hospital. Mrs. Morgan was born in Moultrie, Georgia on January 25, 1932, daughter of the late Lonnie C. Johnson and the late Merle Roberts Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Mima Johnson, by her husband, Jackson Davis “Jack” Morgan, by two sisters, Helen Baker and Alma Carroll, and by a brother, Donald Johnson. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Morgan worked for the Floyd County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher and in the Front Office at Pepperell Elementary School. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to travel. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Tanner (Gary); a son, Alvin L. Crews (Mary Ellen); three stepdaughters, Linda Vinson, Rebecca Leon, and Nancy Baxter; two sisters, Lusshian Weeks and Nelle Scarbrough; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 2pm at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, Georgia. The Rev. Jeffrey Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the cemetery on Wednesday at 1:45pm and include: Active: Alvin Crews, Matt Moon, Jeremy Elcombe, Les Carroll, Joe McEver, and Gil McEver. Honorary: Josh Elcombe, Justin Elcombe, and Tommy Jarrell. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
