Obituary:
Dorothy Raye Smith (Morris) of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on July 25, 2024 in Quitman, Georgia. She was born on June 5, 1928. Dorothy, known for her warm smile and kind heart, touched the lives of many during her time on this earth.
Dorothy had a passion for life that was reflected in her numerous hobbies and interests. She found joy in attending the Rose Festival, where she marveled at the beauty of nature's creations. As a member of the Garden club, she cultivated friendships as beautiful as the flowers she tended. Her culinary skills were well-known among her circle of friends and family, as she delighted countless palates with her delicious cooking. However, it was her dedication to teaching that truly set her apart. Dorothy's impact on her students went far beyond the classroom; she instilled in them a love of learning and a sense of compassion that they carried with them throughout their lives.
Survivors include her son, James Carroll, who will always cherish the loving memories they shared together. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands Alvin Cecil Carroll, and Joel Travis Smith; her son Jerry Carroll; parents Joseph Scott Morris Sr. and Fannie Morris; her sisters Rosalind Bryan and Regina Caulk; brothers Buddy Morris and Joseph Scott Morris Jr., and niece Amorelle Feille.
In every aspect of her life, Dorothy Raye Smith exemplified grace, kindness, and love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
