Dr. Charles Paul Griner, 76, of Moultrie passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021.
A private family graveside service will be held in Funston Cemetery with the Reverend Ron Shiver officiating assisted by Mr. Tom Crook.
Born May 26, 1945, in Colquitt County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Roy Griner and Jewell Smithwick Griner. Dr. Griner, known by all as “Doc”, retired as an Agricultural Education Teacher with Colquitt County High School and was a staff member of UGA. He was a 1963 graduate of Moultrie High School. Continuing his education, he graduated from ABAC in 1965, University of Georgia in 1967 where he earned Bachelors, Masters, and Specialist Degrees, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1978 with a Doctorate (Ph D) Degree. Dr. Griner was a dedicated instructional leader in Vocational Education and a strong supporter of Agriculture. He has touched many lives throughout his teaching career, and he will be missed by all. He is also remembered by his family for his commitment to his faith, his family, and his church. Dr. Griner published four editions of Floriculture Designing and Merchandising which is currently used internationally in educational systems. He was a dedicated member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Funston Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Griner Tucker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Chambers Griner, of Moultrie; sons, Todd Chambers Griner and wife Candi of Kennesaw, GA, Bradley Charles Griner of Lenexa, KS; grandsons, John David Griner, Thomas Charles Griner, both of Kennesaw, GA; brother and sister, Bobby Griner and wife Margaret of Moultrie and Ann Griner of Moultrie; and other special family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be Funston Baptist Church and or The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 East Second Street, Tifton, GA 31794.
