Earnest Terrell Saunders

HARTSFIELD- Earnest T. Saunders, 87, of Hartsfield, died Friday, September 2, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Toon and Rev. John Daughtry officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Monday, September 5, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Casketbearers will be T.J. Saunders, Brad McCook, Patrick McCook, T.J. Robertson, Rodney Taylor, Jack Duncan, Craig Harrell, and Derric Stephenson. Born February 12, 1935, in Eastman, GA, he was the son of the late TJ Saunders and Willie Mae Blankenship Saunders. Mr. Saunders was a farmer who loved working the land to provide for both his family and others around him. His compassion for others evident by his service on numerous committees and Boards in Colquitt County. He was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau Board and served on the Colquitt County Department of Family and Children Services Board. Mr. Saunders was a faithful servant to Christ, serving as a Deacon and on several committees at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a kind, humble, generous man who dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tommie Ruth Suber Saunders, a great granddaughter, Felicity McCook, son-in-law, Donnie McCook, and his sister, Emily Simpson. Survivors include his daughter, Ruth Ellen McCook of Dublin; son, Terrell Saunders and wife Lee of Coolidge; four grandchildren, T.J. Saunders and Melia Saunders, Brad McCook and wife Sarah, and Patrick McCook and wife Letia; great grandchildren, Sean McCook, Declan McCook and Alaina McCook; nephews, Michael Simpson, Steven Simpson, and William Simpson, along with extended family members and friends.
