Edward Thomas Stephan, 67 of Doerun, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Doerun with Dr. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow in Doerun Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Eddie Canon, Mitch Malcolm, Bill Chapman, Chad Kimbrell, Steve Moye and Jim Fill. Honorary casketbearers will be Baldo Briseno, Jeff Young, Dennis Barthelemy, David Heim, Tracy Gay and Bennie Hall.
Visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Stephan was born February 25, 1957 in Albany, GA the son of the late Frances Agnes Grzech Stephan and John Thomas Stephan, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a very patriotic man. He attended the First Baptist Church of Doerun and worked for Proctor and Gamble for 48 years He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, making beef jerky, cooking and family gatherings. He thoroughly enjoyed Christmas and would decorate his house to look like a gingerbread house. He spoiled his whole family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a generous person and supported the United Way.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Jackie Stephan and his Great Dane companion Zeus.
Survivors include his wife Cherylynne Williamson Stephan of Doerun; children Melissa Carrington and husband David of Doerun, Eddie Stephan and wife Kati of Doerun, Zach Stephan and wife Stephanie of Athens, GA; grandchildren Alex Sloan, Kara Menix, Tyler Menix and John “Jack” Stephan; great grandchildren Jace Bishop and Lucas Kash Akridge; siblings Jimmy Stephan and wife Karen of AZ, Nancy Hillsman and husband Sandy of Albany and Chris Stephan of Douglasville, GA.
