Esther Stafford Lashley

Esther Stafford Lashley, 73, of Moultrie, died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at her home.

          Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. 

          The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

          Casketbearers will be Austin McAlpin, Dustin McAlpin, Keith Freeman, Eric Trevelyan, Richard Hoffmann, Tony DeLoache.

          Born September 19, 1946 in Berlin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Barney Stafford and Ida Belle Pyles Stafford.   Mrs. Lashley was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  Her family remembers how she loved to garden, enjoy fishing and her children thought she was the “Best Mom Ever”.  

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Eugene “Gene” Lashley; brothers, Earl Stafford, Sonny Stafford, Morris Stafford and Clyde “Bo” Stafford; sisters, Debbie Woodlief, Louise Gaines, Eloise Whitley and Linda Stafford.

          Survivors include her sons, Dewayne McAlpin and wife LeAnne of Tifton, GA, Chris McAlpin and wife Shannon of Moultrie; daughter, Gwen Chitty and husband Joey of Moultrie; grandchildren, Kimberly Hall, Keith Freeman, Austin McAlpin and wife Kirsten, Dustin McAlpin, Peyton McAlpin, Hannah McAlpin and Bailey Chitty; great-grandchildren, Hayden Freeman and Levi Lucky; brother, Richard Stafford of Anchorage, AL.
