Faye Hurst Scarbrough, 83, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 1, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Doerun with Dr. David Benton officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will greet friends from 2-2:45 PM Sunday at the church.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Hembree, Gary Burnham, Ken Stam, Lee Brown and Parker Kimbrell.
Born November 11, 1937, in Colquitt County Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Tannis Columbus Hurst and Evelyn McLendon Hurst. Mrs. Scarbrough retired from Marine Corp Logistic Base as a supervisor of accounting. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Doerun where she played the piano and organ for many years. She enjoyed sharing her faith with others, especially with a morning devotional through text with her loved ones. Mrs. Scarbrough enjoyed needle pointing, gardening and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Eugene Scarbrough; sons, Randall Scott Scarbrough and Timothy Eugene Scarbrough; brother, Clyde Hurst.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Charlotte Hurst of Doerun; nieces, Ann Blanton Pohl of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Charla Hurst Campbell and husband Jeff of Doerun; nephew, Thomas Hurst and wife Melissa of Doerun; great-nieces, Elaine Hurst Powell and husband Tyler, Alaina Ann Campbell; great-nephew, Cameron Taylor Brinson; great-great-niece, Evelyn Claire Powell; great-great-nephew, Iverson Mitchell Powell; and other beloved family members.
