"Gene" Jack Eugene Littleton

December 4, 1936 — January 19, 2021

Jack Eugene “Gene” Littleton, 84, of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home.       

          A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 22, 2021 at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Woods officiating.   Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born December 4, 1936 in Sylvester, GA, he was the son of the late Henry Lindsay Littleton and Jewell Selph Littleton.  Mr. Littleton was a United States Army Veteran and a graduate of Moultrie High School where he played for the Moultrie Packers in the 1950’s and was an outstanding athlete and held numerous records.  He received a bachelor’s degree in teaching at the University of Georgia and while attending UGA, he played football for the Bulldogs from 1955-1959 and held some longstanding records from his career, and he remained a loyal Bulldog fan.  He was a football coach and teacher from 1960-1969 in Atlanta, GA.  Mr. Littleton retired from Holt, Rinehart and Winston Publishing Company as a sales representative in 1997 with 28 years of service.   He was a great outdoorsman who loved nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed being a member of First Baptist Church of Moultrie.  Unknown to many, Gene also had a beautiful baritone voice and was active in school choirs.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Lee Littleton.

          Survivors include his wife, Coe Moseley Littleton of Moultrie; children, Laura L. Walston and Keith of Hilton Head Island, SC, Matthew E. Littleton and Lara of Moultrie; grandchildren, Alex Littleton and Christine of Birmingham, AL, Ryan Littleton of New York City, NY, Hunter Walston of Hilton Head Island, SC, Caitlin W. Walters and Trevor of Ft. Riley, KS, Brandt Walston of Vail, CO, Geydi Littleton of Moultrie, GA; great-grandsons, Grayson Walters and Colton Walters; several beloved nieces and nephews.

          Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
