Grace Blackburn Weldon, 88, of Moultrie, died Monday, November 9, 2020 at Legacy Village at Park Regency.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at New Elm Baptist Church with Rev. Trey Eakins officiating. Interment will follow in the New Elm Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
Casketbearers will be Grandsons: Randy Weldon, Michael Horne, Michael Thompson, Chris Summerlin, and Tim Ricks; nephew Jimmie Walker. Honorary Casketbearer: Nephew: Ricky Blackburn: Great Nephew Jessie Cox.
Born December 22, 1931, in Moultrie, Mrs. Weldon she was the daughter of the late John Lee Blackburn, Sr. and Dovie Giles Blackburn. She was a member of New Elm Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, who loved the outdoors, especially flowers, watching birds, and fishing. She loved her family dearly. Survivors include her daughter Diane Weldon Horne and husband Don of Doerun, her daughter-in-loves Carol Mercer Weldon and Carol Cooper Weldon both of Moultrie, Grandchildren: Randy Weldon and wife Lynn of Moultrie, Michael Horne of Atlanta, Kelli Horne Summerlin and husband Chris of Doerun, Kim Ricks and husband Tim, and Michael Thompson and wife Courtney, all of Moultrie; Great-Grandchildren: Kate and Carter Summerlin of Doerun, Nyla and Nolie Thompson, Bay and Bowen Ricks, and Alex Weldon, all of Moultrie; a brother, John Lee Blackburn, Jr. and wife Louise and sister, Geneva Perkins and husband Robert, all of Moultrie; sister, Carolyn Trammell of New Port Richey, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Talmadge Weldon; two sons, James Weldon and Randel Weldon; and a brother Melvin (Buddy) Blackburn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the New Elm Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5226 Highway 33 North, Moultrie, GA 31768.
