Gwendolyn Maire Colson

MOULTRIE, GA – Gwendolyn Maire Colson, 95, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with the Dr. Reverend Richard Wright officiating.    The family will greet friends after the service at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. 

Honorary casketbearers will be her grandson and great-grandsons. 

Born September 19, 1928, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Millard Wells and Elsie Frances Kinnard Wells.   Mrs. Colson was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.  She enjoyed quilting, dancing, growing orchids, traveling, and cooking.   She was a former choir director at First Methodist Church of Doerun and a member of the First Methodist Church of Moultrie. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Vicki DeMott and Donna Karen; son, Brett DeMott; great-grandson, Nicholas Martinez.

Survivors include her husband, William Marshall Colson of Moultrie; son, Roscoe Michael DeMott and wife Janet of Moultrie; siblings, Kenneth Wells of Moultrie; grandchildren, Donna Martinez and husband Rolando, Pamela Fisher and husband Ian, Lorrie McCarty, Tonya McCarty, Hope Barber and husband Chance, Brandon DeMott and wife Priscilla, Charity Noethe and husband Ben, Charisa Lakin and husband Mark, Sarah DeMott, Janna Crane and husband Hank, Abby Tankersley and husband Ross, Michael Sears and husband JD; nineteen great-grandchildren, several other extended family members and friends.
