Helen Elizabeth Tucker Courtney

MOULTRIE, GA – Helen Elizabeth Tucker Courtney, 90, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Legacy Village at Park Regency.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Pineview Baptist Church with the Reverend Herman Hampton officiating.  Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Brent Courtney, Justin Courtney, Chris Courtney, and Terry Courtney.  The Deacons of Pineview Baptist Church will service as honorary casketbearers.

Born July 2, 1933, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Riley Tucker and Mellie Melissa Hunnicutt Tucker.  Mrs. Courtney retired from GTE of Florida as a clerk and was a member of Pineview Baptist Church.   She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wendell Courtney; son, Stanley D. Courtney; grandchildren, Ashley McElhatten, and Eric Vazquez; siblings, Marie Burdette, Lavon Tucker, Betty Mathis, and Shirley Asbell.

Survivors include her children, John W. Courtney, Jr. of Moultrie, GA, Jerry B. Courtney and wife Nancy of Tampa, FL, Ronald A. Courtney of Tampa, FL, Terry L. Courtney and wife Penny of Auburn, GA, Brenda L. Vazquez of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Brent Courtney, Justin Courtney, Kayla Courtney, Corey Strong, Chris Courtney, Sean McElhatten, Scott, McElhatten, Nicki Courtney, Ricky Vazquez; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sandra Courtney of Moultrie, GA; and other extended family members and friends.
