Irene Law Cox

Irene Law Cox, 86, of Moultrie, passed away, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at McGraw Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, FL.

          A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Peek officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Casketbearers will be her grandchildren; Chris Daughtry, Doug Yarbrough, Blake Yarbrough, Kayla Daughtry Gatling, Rhett Cox and Nicholaus Cox.  Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren; Matt Daughtry, Gaeb Cox and Bryant Cox.

          Born April 23, 1934 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late, G.G. Law, Emma Farmer Law.  Mrs. Cox retired from Dixie Finance as the office manager and was a secretary with the American Red Cross.  She loved her family, friends, gardening, reading and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.  She also enjoyed playing ping pong, volleyball and softball.  Mrs. Cox loved her church family at First Baptist Church of Moultrie and enjoyed participating in the Choir.  She was a 1951 Moultrie High School graduate and she kept in contact with her classmates.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Cox; daughters, Linda Cox, Wanda Cox Diamantstein; grandson, Jeffery Cox; brothers, James Law, Curtis Law; sister, Zara Law Matthews.

          Survivors include her children, Donna Cox Daughtry and husband Jack of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Carla Cox Yarbrough and husband Olen of Lavonia, GA, Greg Cox and wife Allison of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Chris Daughtry and wife Jamie, Kayla Daughtry Gatling and husband Bobby, Matt Daughtry and wife Kathleen, Doug Yarbrough and wife Ashley, Blake Yarbrough and wife Erica, Bryant Cox, Gaeb Cox, Rhett Cox, Nicholaus Cox and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Law Davis of Moultrie, Betty Law Hall of Glennville, GA.
