James Edward Blackburn

James Edward Blackburn, 66, of Sparks, died Monday, December 28, 2020 at Amicasa Hospice in Decatur GA.

          Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ricky McLaughlin officiating.  Interment will be in Westview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Casketbearers will be Arnold Dell, Bo Sweat, Pat Cochran, Christopher Johnson, Austin Kinard, and David Holden.

          Born April 8, 1954 in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Hoyt Lee Blackburn and Ethell Henderson Blackburn.  Mr. Blackburn was a diesel mechanic at Sexton Farms and was of the Baptist faith.   He loved his family and took great pride in his grandchildren.   Mr. Blackburn enjoyed watching westerns, riding motorcycles and fishing.  

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Edward Blackburn; brother, Earnest Lee Blackburn.

          Survivors include his daughter, Amy Nicole Blackburn and Timothy Araujo of Sparks; sisters, Maxine Dell, Linda Ricks both of Moultrie; grandchildren, Haylee Cheyanne Ezell, Savannah Kayola Ezell, Ethan Chase Pruitt and Luke Araujo.
