James Arn Nelms

James Arn Nelms, 82, of Moultrie, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2022, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating.   The family will greet friends after the service.

Born December 6, 1939, in Colquitt County Georgia, he was the son of the late Lewis Nelms and Novella Nelms.  Mr. Nelms retired from Oxley’s Fine Foods as a meat cutter with over 40 years of dedicated service.   He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Landrum Nelms; step-sons, Michael Jordan, Ted Jordan, Thomas Ben Jordan and Jimmy Gay.

Survivors include his son, James Arnold Nelms of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Amanda Nelms; longtime girlfriend, Marie Smith and her children, Jeri Hillenbrand, Haley Tirey, Braelyn Tirey all of Sarasota, FL.
