James Lamar Shiver

James “Lamar” Shiver, 85, of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.

          A graveside service, with military honors, will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born November 24, 1935 in Sylvester, GA, he was the son of the late H. S. Shiver and Earline McDonald Goodwin.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired after 35 years of service as an electronic technician from Sears.  Mr. Shiver loved spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed his frequent fish fries at the cabin on Indian Lake. He enjoyed fishing, camping traveling and flying model airplanes.  Mr. Shiver was well known for his beautiful wood making items that he built in his woodshop.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Goodwin.

          Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carrie Beth “Betsy” Conger Shiver of Moultrie; children, Steve Shiver and wife Sabrina of St. Simons Island, GA, Todd Shiver and wife Janet of Ellensburg, WA, Damon Hall and partner Tanya of Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren, Blake Shiver and wife Lindsey, Elise Dennison and husband Chris, Andrew Shiver and wife Melissa, Justin Shiver and wife Bree, Morgan Shiver, Kody Stetter and Cynthia; great-grandchildren, Harrison Shiver, Julianna Shiver, Clara Dennison; special friends, Nancy and Ronnie Wilkes, Rita Herring; special niece, Sue Caughman and other family members.
