James Oscar Walters, 78, of Doerun passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at his home.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 23, 2021 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. David Benton officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
The family will greet friends after the service at the cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Leon Walters, Bill Walters, Jerry Walters, Mark Saunders, Tony Carlton, Darren Hembree, Don Senkbeil and Stan Adams.
Born August 23, 1942 in Worth County, he was the son of the late Robert A. Walters and Myrtice Shaw Walters. Mr. Walters was a United States Navy Seabee Veteran and the owner of Doerun Hardware Store. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Doerun, a cattle farmer, and a member of Doerun Masonic Lodge #151.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William W. “Billy” Walters, James “Ralph” Walters and Robert A. “Buddy” Walters.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Coleman Walters of Doerun; daughters, Stacey Brunston and husband Robby of Hahira, Kristen Stallings and husband Ricky of Doerun; grandchildren, Addie Brunston, Lee Brunston, Caleb Brunston, Lexi Stallings and Luke Stallings.
