Jean Hill Delahanty, 86, a resident of Randolph County, Alabama was ushered into her Lord’s presence on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, GA due to complications of pneumonia. Ms. Delahanty was being cared for by her niece Joy G. Wilson and husband Calvin of Alabama.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Hill and wife Gail, a granddaughter Christina, brother Rudy Hill and wife Barbara, a sister Louella Hill Fishburne and husband Gordon, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces, and nephews, and lots of friends and acquaintances.
Jean was born on January 9, 1937. She was the second of 10 children born to Grover and Eunice Waters Hill and grew up in rural Colquitt County. She began working in Atlanta at the age of 17 to help her family and worked her way through corporations, obtained a master’s degree in business management and finally owned her own Management Consulting Firm in Virginia near Washington, DC. The firm was sold in 1985 and she and her husband Joseph bought a sailboat and spent 10 years traveling the Caribbean, South America, and along the east coast of North America. She was also a Coast Guard certified ship’s captain. Jean had a long life of hard work, rewarded with a significant amount of travel, and always provided help for her family.
A celebration of life service is planned at 2:00PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel on April 29, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner Hospital.
