Joey Spero Sampson, 90, of Moultrie, died Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Private graveside services will be at Westview Cemetery.
Born June 23, 1930 in New York, he was the son of the late Spero Sampson and Patricia Rosena McGinnis Sampson. Mr. Sampson served in the U.S. Army and was a retired Transportation Contractor. He was a very joyful man, was always full of life, and never met a stranger. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He enjoyed collecting antique cars, owned his own airplane, and was a licensed pilot.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Spero Sampson, Jr. and a step-son, Byron Scott DeMott.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Herndon DeMott Sampson of Moultrie; two step-children, Marc DeMott and wife Sharon of Moultrie and Gina DeMott Renner of Powder Springs, Ga.; grandchildren, Austen DeMott and wife Jane, Matthew DeMott, Taylor Rains and husband Austin and Jackson Renner; great-grandchildren, Marc DeMott and Charles DeMott ; and his faithful companion, his Australian Shepherd, Tom.
