MOULTRIE, GA – Ianthia Kaye Lawson Thomas, 69, of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating. A private Entombment will be held.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will Jay Powell, Levi Jones, Lance Simmons II, Logan Law, Colby Attebury, Steven Suber, Ty Wilkes, and Rob Gay.
Born June 15, 1954, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was raised by her grandparents, the late Warren L. and Lillie Mae Lawson. Mrs. Kaye enjoyed laughter and was loads of fun to be around. She had learned to enjoy and appreciate each day as it came, both good and bad. Mrs. Kaye had many joys in life, but she considered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be the absolute joys of her life. Mrs. Kaye loved to cook-out and spend time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Life Spring Community Church.
In addition to her grandparents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Nelson Thomas, Sr., her birth parents, Willie Vaster Lawson and Opal Bivins Bowles, and her brother, David Hickey.
Survivors include her children, Angela Smith and husband Glenn, Karen Glover and husband John, Heidi Thomas and husband Chuck, Timothy Lance Simmons and wife Laurel, all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Nikki Spires, Jessica Smith, Tiffany Fox and husband John, Jay Powell, Levi Jones, Justin Thomas and wife Ivey, Shelby Thomas, Mackenzie Attebury and husband Colby, Emily Law and husband Logan, Lance Simmons and wife Kayla, Sunny Simmons, Levi Jonsgaard, Remington Simmons and Sadie Simmons; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 more arriving soon; brothers, Dean Lawson and wife Judy of Butler, GA, Jeff Burdette and wife Sandy of Jacksonville, FL, and Doug Burdette of Moultrie; and Bonus Sister, Lecina Todd, along with a host of extended family members and friends.
