Born on October 13, 1943 in Hillsborough, Fl, she was the daughter of the late J. Douglas Bulloch, Sr., who passed in 1975 and the late Katherine Stokes Burt Bulloch Prevatte who passed in 2011. After her father’s military service concluded, Patsy moved back to the family farm in Ochlocknee, Ga, where she spent the rest of her childhood and graduated from Thomas Central High School. After a short stint at the Medical College of Georgia, she graduated from Valdosta State College in 1965 with a degree in education. She later furthered her education at Georgia Southwestern, Georgia Southern, and Valdosta State, receiving a master’s degree in science education from Georgia Southwestern. Patsy was a lifelong educator beginning her career in Thomas County alongside her mother in 1965, then moving to Moultrie to teach at Moultrie Jr. High School for almost 20 years, where she was named as STAR Teacher. In 1988, Patsy moved to Watkinsville, Georgia, and took a position as Program Specialist with the University of Georgia working on testing research. Patsy returned to the classroom briefly at Barrow County High School, and then finished her career at Oconee County High School where she taught science and later was the administrator in charge of the alternative education program. Patsy also counseled students after retirement as a college selection advisor assisting numerous Oconee graduates to reach their dream school or secure a much-needed scholarship. In her over 40 years in education, Patsy had the privilege and opportunity to impact the lives of thousands of young people, many of whom counted her as a friend later as adults. In addition to her time in the classroom, she was a fixture at “her” schools where she led and volunteered her time to multiple initiatives and was an unofficial assistant coach and team mom to her husband’s many cross country, basketball, and track teams. In particular, she was very proud to be the director of the Oconee Co. Secret Santa program which distributed toys, clothes, and food for hundreds of needy children and their families at the holidays each year. Patsy also worked countless hours supporting fundraising events for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. After her retirement, she continued her volunteer efforts working with the Oconee and Colquitt County Family and Children Services courts to help children suffering from potential abuse or neglect. Patsy was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie and a member of the Moultrie Federated Guild.
Patsy never met a stranger and could turn a five-minute trip to get milk into a two hour adventure seeing four old friends and making three new ones along the way. She thrived in the chaos of large gatherings and the classroom where, until her later years, she always remembered everyone’s name and something specific that let each person know that they were special to her.
Patsy is survived by her husband of 46 years Iverson Robert Aultman, Sr., and her two children, Bert Aultman and his wife Sara Towner of Annapolis, Md., and daughter Katy Aultman of Atlanta, Ga.; siblings, sister Dotty Thompson of Thomasville, Ga, brother John D. Bulloch, Jr. and wife Miriam Bulloch of Ochlocknee, Ga, and sister Kathy Crowdis and husband Richard Crowdis of Albany, Ga; and brother-in-law, Stuart Aultman and wife Karen Aultman of Inverness, Fl, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Additionally, the family would like to thank Carol Mathis for her service and care for Patsy in her later years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Patsy’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
