She was preceded in death by her husband, Brown Macon (Sonny) Hall, her sons David Michael Hall and Douglas Christopher Hall, and her sister Patricia Deariso Floyd. Survivors include her son Kevin Lee Hall and Jenee of Bradenton, Florida, daughter in law Laura Thompson Hall of Funston, Georgia, four grandchildren, brother Hope Deariso of Moultrie, sister Lynn Henderson of Dallas, Georgia. Kay was a born teacher and spent 35 years doing so professionally. She graduated from Moultrie High School in 1955. She received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Georgia and her Masters in Education degree from Valdosta State University. She was devoted to serving God, her family, and her friends. She was a longtime member of the Funston Baptist Church and upon moving to Florida, became a member of the Cortez church of Christ. She inherited her love of “watching things grow” from her mother and always had something growing in the yard, greenhouse, or on the patio. She was beloved by her new-found friends in her new home in a retirement community in Florida, where she taught many the importance of prayer, attending church services, being kind to each other and standing firm in the faith. Her legacy there lives on in the “Friends of Kay” club that was begun after her cancer diagnosis to help her live life to its fullest and will now honor her by doing the same for others.
