Lillie Ruth Weeks King

Lillie Ruth Weeks King, 88, of Doerun, went to be with The Lord on September 12, 2020, after an extended illness during which she remained in her home. She was born to Nokie Elizabeth O'Neal Weeks and Jim Gordy Weeks on February 23, 1932 in the Mt. Sinai community near Doerun and grew up in Funston, Ga. Services will be held at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Mt Sinai Rd, Doerun on Wednesday, September 16 at 11:00 with burial in the church cemetery following. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 in the church sanctuary. Singing of hymns will be confined to the graveside and will be led by her faithful caregivers. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, masks are recommended. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband Wesley Crawford (W.C.) King and devoted son Jim Morton King. Sisters and brothers who have predeceased her are Inez McLendon, Elmo Weeks, Opal Everett as well as three siblings who died in infancy or childhood, Ernest, Lucile and Nora. Also, preceded in death by her beloved in-laws, Lollie and Wesley King. Ruth is survived by her son Wesley Crawford King, Jr. and daughter Pamela Ruth King Rosner (Ed) and two grandchildren, Edward Rosner, Jr. and Elizabeth Rosner Cantrell (Daniel.) Joyful additions to the family are her great-grandchildren, Leilani and Lincoln Cantrell. Surviving sisters are Dora Pitts and Edna Suggs (Gene) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth graduated from Moultrie High School in 1949 and was a homemaker and a co-farmer with her husband, W.C. She was an active member of Mt Sinai Baptist Church since 1950 and often led the singing and taught adult Sunday School for 60 continuous years. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in law, mother, aunt and grandmother. Ruth was a friend to everyone who knew her. Her church family and her friends and the youth in the community were just as important to her as her family. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Mt.
