Lonnie "Mack" Matthew Prater

Lonnie Matthew “Mack” Prater, 69, of Moultrie, died Friday, September 25, 2020 at his home.

          Funeral service will be held 3:00PM Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brad Bowen and the Rev. John Eubanks officiating.   Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Casketbearers will be the Promise Keepers of Heritage Church.

          Born February 16, 1951 in Coretta, VA, he was the son of the late Eulass Matthew Prater and Joann Beatrice Frazier Prater.  Mr. Prater worked on the naval shipyard and traveled to different countries with his employment with the government.  He retired after 39 years at the Marine Logistic Base in Albany in the quality control department.   His family remembers how he loved his family, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and how he made an impact on people by making them smile and having a positive attitude.  He loved God and his church. He had a loving heart and truly was a warrior of God.  Margie and Mack were proud members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA).   

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Lee Prater; sister, Mickie Lindner.

          Survivors include his wife, Margie Nell Lamb Prater of Moultrie; children, Lonnie Prater, Jr. and wife Shelley of Pensacola, FL, Chad Prater and wife Vachelle of Chesapeake, VA, Traci Newman of Jacksonville, FL, Erin Seto of Clinton, TX; step-children, Jereme Perkins and wife Sherry of Columbia, SC, Daniel Perkins and wife Wendy of PA thirteen grandchildren; sister, Cathy Lynn Street of Meadow, VA.
