Moultrie

MOULTRIE, GA.- Luther William “Bill” Hampton, 70, died Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 17, 2025 at Heritage Church in the Prayer Chapel.

Born June 7, 1954, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late William Luther and Lillian Ann (Brinson) Hampton. Bill, known to many as "Mule," was a man whose kindness knew no bounds. He was the most selfless and humble person his family had ever known, always wondering how he could lend a hand to someone in need. His caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone he met; he was the most generous person. His sister, Melissa, will especially miss the sound of his voice, as he made sure to call her every morning and evening without fail. Bill had a passion for travel and a deep love for his work. He proudly served as a First Sergeant in the Army and was a skilled paratrooper. During his military career, he was stationed in Saudi Arabia as part of Desert Storm and spent over 20 years in telecommunications—a career he truly loved. After his military service, he continued his work in the field as a cell phone tower installer, taking great pride in his craft. Bill's faith was an important part of his life, and he left a lasting impact on the congregation at Heritage Church, where he was a devoted member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Souls and Angel Connell.

Survivors include his siblings; Melissa (Shane) Hunter and Randall Michael (Amy) Brogdon; four nephews; five nieces; and many friends.

Bill’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
