Lynda Estelle Seawright Smith

Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Lynda Estelle Seawright Smith, 82, of Tallahassee, formerly of Pavo, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2025, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will greet friends after the service on Monday at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born October 15, 1942, in Pavo, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Rosencrantz and Sarah Blanche Williams Rosencrantz. Mrs. Lynda was a Godly-woman, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devout pastor’s wife. During her life she was a nurse, mid-wife, teacher and dietitian. Mrs. Lynda had a kind compassionate soul and was a collector of children who would help any child in need.  She will be remembered by many of them for the love she showed to them. She will remain in the hearts of everyone she met. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Rev. Wiley H. Smith, Jr. PHd; daughter, Julie Rupert; grandson, Brian Melvin; sister, Carolyn Doughtry; brother, Wayne “Bo” Rosencrantz.

Remaining family members include her children, Milynda Ryan and husband Wayne, Toni Large, Alicia Farmer, Joseph Melvin, Mary Gagne and husband Steve, Coni Brooks; grandchildren, Kaye, Jennifer, Zackary, Hudson, Widney, Meredith, Christopher, Amanda, Kelli, Renee, Annalise, Riley, Aria, David; great-grandchildren, Addilyn, Gianna, Adalynn nephew, Wes; niece, Cece; and several other extended family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice Foundation, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fl 32308 and the Alzheimer’s Project, Inc., 2344 Centerville Rd STE 105, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
