Born December 15, 1939, in Tift County, she was the daughter of the late Clem Redden Varnadoe and Inez Gordon Varnadoe. Mrs. Ruis met the love of her life, Bobby Ruis, when she was a young lady and throughout the course of her life, she became a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and tried to serve her church and community in many ways. Mrs. Ruis was a gifted pianist who taught countless others to play the piano. She was often asked to provide the music for many church camp meetings or services and was always willing to help. Mrs. Ruis taught Sunday School for many years at Riverside Holiness Church. She also stood beside her husband Bobby in all his endeavors to help others in the community and church. Mrs. Ruis was a prayer warrior who would pray earnestly and faithfully for her church family and friends. She always sought out the good in people and never condemned others but instead tried to show them the love of Jesus. Mrs. Ruis had a passion for caring for others and many people would say she was the “hands and feet of Jesus” to them through her care. Mrs. Ruis cherished her family above all earthly things and loved them dearly. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Bobby L. Ruis; her grandson, Wesley Herrington; brothers, Aaron Varnadoe, L. “Bud” Varnadoe, Felix Varnadoe, and Gordon Varnadoe.
Survivors include her children, daughter, Kim Herrington and husband Mark; son, Kelvin Ruis and wife Sonja; granddaughter, Alexis Ruis Glass and husband Joshua; great-grandchild, Jeremiah Glass; along with a huge host of family members on both the Varnadoe and Ruis sides of the family.
