A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Reverend Hugh Ward and Ms. Laura Brooks will lead the celebration.  Others are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Faye.  Social distancing guidelines will be required, and masks are recommended.

Born October 27, 1942, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Frank Edward Murphy and Bernice Beasley Murphy.  After graduating Moultrie High School, Class of 1960, Faye attended Georgia State College for Women (G.S.C.W.) for three years where she established friendships that have been maintained for sixty years.  Faye also maintained close ties with her Class of 1960 classmates.  She worked primarily in the food service industry and she considered her greatest professional accomplishment co-owning and operating the Cheese and Feed Store, a local sandwich shop known for its homemade chicken salad, pimento cheese and specialty sandwiches.   Although Faye did not have children of her own, she loved all children and was a favorite of her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  She never met a stranger and had a grand sense of humor.  Contact with Faye left everyone laughing.  She was a wonderful teacher and mentor to her young employees, one of her great legacies was the impact she had on these employees.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Murphy, Jr., Russell Murphy, Max Murphy and Neil Murphy.

Survivors include her sisters, Brenice “Bootsie” Ricks, Joyce Hopkins, Bonnie May and husband Dwight all of Moultrie; brother, Gerald Murphy and wife Debbie of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Sara Murphy of Moultrie; special family, Beth Sheahan, Lisa Holsclaw, Lee and Lem Holsclaw, Sara and Ben Clark, Dana Holsclaw.
