HARTSFIELD, GA – Marvin Eugene Knox, 76, of Hartsfield, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Shiver officiating.    Interment will follow in the Knox-Connelly Family Cemetery.  

The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Stanley Bass, Ricky Smith, Charleston Hembree, Landon Bass, Cesar Escobar, Mario Escobar and Lamar Parker.

Honorary Casketbearers will be his farming and hunting friends. 

Born August 4, 1947, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late DC Knox and Sadie Simmons Knox.  Mr. Knox was a man with a big heart who never met a stranger.  He was a proud farmer who worked hard to provide for his family and others.  Mr. Knox was chosen as a Farmer of the Year and received a Conservation Award recognizing his hard work and faithful service to agriculture.  He accomplished many things in his lifetime, but his greatest treasure and achievement was always his family whom he loved dearly.  Mr. Knox lived out his faith every day to serve his Lord and point others to Christ.  He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and loved the church family dearly. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Will Connelly who he loved as a son; brother, Charles Knox, sister, Sue Tucker and husband Wanzie; sister, June Alligood.

Survivors include his beloved and cherished wife, Barbara Williams Knox, children, Holly Knox Connelly and Scotty Eugene Knox; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Connelly Hembree and husband Charleston and James William Connelly IV; his fur baby, Angel; sister, Mary King and husband Raymond; brother James Knox and wife Susie; sister-in-law, Wanda Knox; brother-in-law, Dennis Alligood; and bonus family member, Rosa Pacheco; along with numerous extended family members and friends.  

Mr. Marvin’s family would like to thank Nurse Whitney Hathcock Taylor for the kind and compassionate care she provided.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 245 Oak Grove Church Rd. Hartsfield, GA 31756. 

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
