Mary Ellen Gaines

Moultrie, GA – Mary Ellen Melton Gaines, 89, of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at her residence.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Pineview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born December 29, 1934, in Moultrie, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlton E. Melton and Mary Baker Melton. Mrs. Gaines was a homemaker who deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone she could. Mrs. Gaines was a faithful member of Pineview Baptist Church where she and her husband served their community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Gaines; and daughter, Pamela Gaines Rogers; siblings, Jane Melton Morgan and husband Reverend Dr. Tommy Morgan, Wayne Melton, Larry Melton and wife Barbara Melton, Frieda Melton Jones and husband Tim Jones, and Anita Melton Rosich and husband David.

Survivors include her grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
