Mentle "Buddy" Ray Morris

MOULTRIE, GA – Mentle “Buddy” Ray Morris, 73, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.   Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Drew Norman, Randy Massey, Michael Crawford, Mitchell Fountain, Wes Mims, and Conner Moorehead.  Honorary casketbearers will be members of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Department.

Born November 11, 1948, in Welcome, North Carolina, he was the son of the late David Samuel Morris and Dorothy Davis Morris.    Mr. Buddy retired from the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Department after 30 years of service as a detention officer and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.   He loved his family and his feline children.   Mr. Buddy was a hardworking, dependable, humble man who was respected by many especially his fellow officers and the men under his watch.  In his free time, he enjoyed watching tv, going shopping at Lowes and Walmart. 

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patsy Griner Morris of Moultrie; son, Joshua David Morris and wife Tammy of Moultrie; grandchildren, Joshua Ethan Morris, Brent Logan Morris, and Parker Drake Morris; sister, Molly Morris Ellis and husband Art; nieces, Gina Ellis Fountain and husband Mitchell, Samantha Ellis Crawford and husband Michael, Haley Griner Moorehead, Lindsay Griner Mims and husband Shane, Stacy Griner and significate other Kevin Levesque; great-nieces, Mary Madison Greene, Maggie Grace Cox, Ella Brynn Crawford, Annika Levesque; great-nephews, Drew Norman, Wes Mims, Connor Moorehead, Bailee Fountain, Cale Reed Crawford; numerous extended family members and friends.
