MOULTRIE, GA -Mercedes Del Carmen Zavala, 70, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, in Archbold Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Heritage Church.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, March 24, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Born October 11, 1954, in Guayaquil Ecuador, she was the daughter of the late Honorato Zavala and Eugenia Chachapoyas. Mrs. Mercedes retired as a teacher from the Miami Dade Board of Education and the Colquitt County Board of Education. She was a wonderful, humble, caring mother and grandmother, who loved her family. She volunteered her time to help others and made hats for cancer patients. Mrs. Mercedes adored driving and traveling across the United States and around the world. She took great pleasure in driving her convertible with the wind flowing through her hair, singing her heart out. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and going to Ollie’s. Mrs. Mercedes’ memory will remain in the lives of everyone she met.
Survivors include her children, Billy Michael Catoni, Charlotte Michelle Catoni, Jimmy Abraham Catoni; grandson, Giovanni Marcello Catoni; nephew, Marcos Zavala; several other extended family members and friends.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
