Nellie Mae Shirah Snipes, 93, of Moultrie, passed away at her residence on Saturday, June 4, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Flame of Praise Tabernacle with Rev. Rodney Nix officiating, Speakers Shanna Taylor, and Rev. Edward Seabrooks. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends for 1 hour before the service. Casketbears will be Blake Tillery, John Gray, Connor Patterson, Andy Driver, Will Snipes and Kennon Snipes. Born July 11, 1928, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Mattie Lee Turner Shirah. She was a homemaker who enjoyed canning all types of vegetables, cooking for her family and friends and reading her Bible. Mrs. Snipes adored her family especially spending time with them going to the mountains. She was a devoted member of Flame of Praise Tabernacle and loved her Lord Jesus with all her heart. Mrs. Snipes never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Harrell Snipes; a granddaughter, Mika Snipes; son-in-law, Harold Tillery; daughter-in-law Sandra Snipes; and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include her children, Marilyn Tillery, Kenneth Snipes, Jerry Snipes and wife Elaine, all of Moultrie and Gail Giles and husband James of Thomasville; grandchildren, Sonja King and husband Mark, Stacie Dampier, Shanna Taylor, Joey Tillery and wife Kelly, Kenny Snipes, Michael Snipes, Richie Snipes and Jamie Snipes; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
