- Opal O’Hearn Holloway, 83, of Canton, formerly of Moultrie, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Amelia Gardens II in Woodstock, GA.
Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, masks are recommended.
Born March 3, 1937 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Willie Franklin O’Hearn and Lila Frances Brooks O’Hearn. Mrs. Holloway retired from GTE as a telephone operator and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and had a strong faith in God. She was a former member and commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and served in the Honor Guard in Moultrie. Her family remembers how she was a strong and loving woman who loved her family and enjoyed being the family historian. Mrs. Holloway enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with her family and friends, and she never met a stranger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Holloway; grandchildren, Joshua Holloway, Benjamin Holloway; three brothers.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy Holloway and wife Denise of Norman Park, Jerry Holloway of Moultrie, Franklin Copeland of Woodstock, GA, Mary Elizabeth Holloway of Moultrie, Janice Laurence of Cairo; brother, Troy O’Hearn and wife Pat of Moultrie; grandchildren, Emerson Copeland, Marleigh Copeland, Ivey Holloway, Kelly Libert and Angie Moore.
