CAIRO, GA - Patrick Willis Price, 92, of Cairo, Georgia passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Archbold Cairo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Georgia, with Mr. Billy Butler officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery, Moultrie, Georgia, with Mr. Tommy Butler officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Friday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. 

Casketbearers will be Rip Colvin, Johnny Piland, Branden Piland, and Rick Burnham. 

Born August 30, 1932, in Colquitt County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Jennings Bennett Price and Edna Irene Carter Price. Mr. Price was a United States Air Force Veteran. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1962 from Georgia Institute of Technology. He formally retired after 40 years of work in both the public and private sectors. But he remained active by providing engineering advice and consultation to attorneys on cases involving highway construction claims and highway accidents. During his career in the public sector he was: (1) a bridge designer with the Georgia Highway Department where he re-worked the standards for bridge culverts; (2) a construction engineer on a 28-story building and as schedule engineer on the moon-port for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Cape Canaveral; and (3) as Area Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration for 22 years, during which time he was responsible for compliance with Federal Standards on the design, construction and maintenance for over 150 miles of urban and rural Interstate highway projects. The most significant project during this period was the award-winning Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Following his public service, he opened a branch office for Aim Engineering and Surveying, Inc. in Tallahassee, Florida and served as Regional Engineer supervising a total of 40 other engineers and surveyors. During this period, he authorized numerous highway engineering and construction engineering proposals. Included in these proposals was the first Design/Build bridge reconstruction project in the state. In recognition of his service in the public sector he received numerous awards and commendations. Mr. Price was a licensed professional Engineer in Florida and Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry Bennett Price, Audrey Mathis, Margaret Price Moore and husband Joe. 

Survivors include his beloved wife, Peggy Rogers Price; children, Timothy Price and wife Stacy, Crystal Price; granddaughters, Madison Lynch and husband Francis, Morgan Leach; great-grandson, Emery Lynch; special niece, Patti Jo Duncan and husband Mike; along with numerous extended family members and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Centennial Methodist Church, C/O Susie Butler, 351 Enos Lane, Cairo, Georgia 39828.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
