Rev. James Henry Smith, 90, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.
Private graveside rites will be held 2:00PM Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Winston Baker and the Rev. Larry Wiley officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
Born June 11, 1930 in Grimes, AL, he was the son of the late Samson Smith and Alice Powell Smith Condrey. Rev. Smith came to Moultrie in 1968 to pastor 1st Assembly of God Church. He was in the ministry for over 60 years, pastoring churches in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. He was also associated with Colonial Bakery and Supreme Ice Cream in Dothan, AL. His family remembers how he loved his family, people and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Perry Smith; grandchild, James Catlin Smith; brother, Issac Smith; sisters, Doris Bass, Jimmie Johnson and Lois Whiddon.
Survivors include children, Martha “Marti” Baker and husband Rev. Winston, Beverly Kay Ray, Sammy Frank Smith all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Shane Palmer and wife Monica, Lannie Baker and wife Melody, Hannah Brady and husband Seth, Turner Smith; great-grandchildren, Ava Palmer, Livia Palmer, Lanier Baker, Jayse Brady and Hynlee Kate Brady; special niece, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis of Camilla and several other family members.
